Jordy Nelson's Buzz

Jordy Nelson has the Midwestern good guy charm and matching blond hair, blue eyed looks.  But what about that buzz cut?

It's definitely practical for sweeping the Green Bay Packers helmet off and on, but c'mon.  I think Jordy could stand for a new style sometime in the next couple Packers seasons.  I've found a few options below.

No radical changes here.  Just a little length to the top, spiking it up for some height, and maintaining the short buzzed sides that Jordy Nelson seems to favor.

What do you think about these choices?  Should he go all out and grow it long instead?

Donald Driver's GMA appearance

I can't get enough Donald Driver so videos like this help get my #80 fix.  Here he is on GMA, hosting a report for Good Morning America.  Best part?  He's shirtless.  Second best part?  You see his beautiful family.  His baby girl is especially adorable!

Check it out and enjoy!

Packers @ Minnesota

Gosh, here we are closing out 2012 with one final Midwest match-up!  This Sunday--December 30--the Green Bay Packers are taking on the Minnesota Vikings.  Since half my family is from the twin cities, I'll be there and you can bet I'll be joined by a huge group of Green Bay Packers cheeseheads.  Represent!

If you are in Minneapolis, too, or looking for a way to close out 2012 with some great NFL football, check out the remaining inventory of Green Bay Packers tickets here.

I'm feeling a little bummed the season is winding down but would love to see this regular season close out with a win.  Go, Pack, go!

Merry Christmas, Aaron Rodgers!

It's Christmas!  Merry Christmas, to all you celebrate-rs out there, and Season's Greetings if you don't.  My gift came last night: a new Aaron Rodgers jersey.  Lucky, lucky.  I'll be wearing it for the final regular season game this Sunday.  So excited!

Thinking of Aaron Rodgers got me wondering what sort of Christmas list he'd come up with...a guy who has anything/everything he could possibly want.  Here's a few ideas.

1.  A Superbowl win.  So deserved!

2.  A nice long vacation/spa after the Superbowl is won.  His body has taken a beating over this season.

3.  Some signed memorabilia from the athletes he most respects.

What do you think?  Feel free to add your ideas of Aaron Rodgers wishlists to the comments!

Andrew Datko's high school sports

Like many of his NFL peers, Andrew Datko made a name for himself by playing high school football.  On his hometown team (St. Thomas Aquinas High in Lauderdale, Florida), Andrew Datko was fortunate to compete in state all four years.  Fun times!

In addition to football, Andrew Datko was a basketball player who notched two varsity letters during his high school career.  And like many of the big dudes on the Green Bay Packers team, Andrew Datko joined track and field where he whipped the discus and tossed the shot put.

Oh, to go back to those carefree days of high school classes, working out with buds after school, and gunning for the state championship.  Though, living the dream on the Green Bay Packers probably suits Andrew Datko just fine...

Green Bay versus Tennessee

It's almost Christmas but my holiday colors are focused not on green and red, but green and gold!  In a pre-Christmas Eve treat, the Tennessee Titans make the trip up to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers.  This should be a solid match-up that takes us out of playing against midwest teams for a spell.

If you're in town on an early holiday, this couldn't be a better holiday gift to yourself or your family and friends.  Bring the whole slew of relatives for a very merry Packers game!

Go, Pack, go!

Josh Sitton is a beast

This guy is pure, raw power.  He stands at 6'3" and weighs in around 315 pounds.  He's a tank and his strong record backs up his physical presence.  The NFL alumni group even named the guy Number One offensive lineman of the year back in 2010...and for good reason.

Would you like this force coming at you in full pads?

Me neither.

12.13.2012

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago

The Chicago Bears are ready and waiting for Green Bay to arrive, but they'll leave the game disappointed.  Our team heads down for their third of five Sunday December match-ups and I'm loving this schedule!  The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers have an excellent rivalry, as everyone knows, and another win for the green and gold couldn't make me happier.  Make sure to tune in this Sunday as I predict a 14-28 big old win for our favorite NFL team.

Go, Pack, go!

Jermichael Finley's Abs

Something I've noticed about Jermichael Finley over the years is that he is not shy about showing off his abs.  Well, haven't you noticed this, too?

Exhibit One:

Exhibit Two:

He seems to follow the motto of--If you've got it, flaunt it!  And I'm sure most of the female contingency of the Green Bay Packers would agree with that idea.

12.09.2012

TJ Lang comfy in Michigan

TJ Lang is a fixture on Lambeau Field during the season, but what you may not know is that during the rest of the year, he makes his home in a Michigan city called Novi.  Seem friendly enough:

Novi, Michigan is home to 55,000 other people besides TJ Lang.  It has a sister city in Japan and Novi was incorporated as recently as 1969.  If you'd like to travel from Green Bay to Novi, you can expect it to take 8 hours and 3 minutes.  And that calls for taking a ferry straight across Lake Michigan!

Wonder if TJ Lang ever comes by ferry for the Packers games?  Something tells me the answer is no....

12.06.2012

Green Bay Packers versus Detroit Lions

Rawr!  The Detroit Lions are comin' to town and we'll tame their roars into little meows by the time they leave Lambeau Field!!!  How's that for a pep talk?

We're here for a second time this month and it's a great way to catch your favorite football team in person.  December cold is no match for the heat the Green Bay Packers bring on field.  See ya at the game!

Go, Pack, go!

Aaron Rodgers' Legacy

This site is just for fun and entertainment about the Green Bay Packers because oh! I love them so!  But from time to time, I sit back and look at the hard facts and marvel at just how good this team really is.  And, of course, on the top of that "wow they're good" list is one of the best quarterbacks of all time: Aaron Rodgers.

When reading through his stats yet again, I realized just how much of a stand-out he's become.  Take a look at a few of the many Aaron Rodgers highlights.

-  He went without an interception in 35 out of 62 regular season starts, with a 41-21 w-l record.

-  From 2008-2011, he had 17,037 passing yards...top in league record books.

-  New NFL record from 2011: 122.5 passer rating.

-  Top in Green Bay Packers history with 45 touchdown passes and 68.3% completion rate.

And I saved the best for last:

- He is NUMBER ONE in all of the NFL today and of years past in career passer rating.

So glad Aaron Rodgers is on OUR team!

AJ Hawk's Hair Donation

Up until this season, AJ Hawk's hair has been the most eye catching thing about his style.  The long hair was in memory of the late NFL player Pat Tillman, a U.S. Army member who gave the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan back in 2005.  Many people thought this was a great way to honor Pat Tillman and make his presence a reminder on and off-field in the ensuing years.

But in spring 2012, AJ Hawk went ahead and got his hair cut.  Again, his locks represented a worthy cause.  He donated his hair to the charity Wigs for Kids.  This program makes hair pieces for kids recovering from chemotherapy.

Here's AJ Hawk in his short haired look these days:

His hair plans may be done for now, but they've showed much about his character over the years.

11.29.2012

Green Bay Packers versus Minnesota Vikings

Bring on icy cold winter football at Lambeau Field this Sunday!  Can the Minnesota Vikings handle the temps?  We'll see!  This is a perfect way to kick off a solid month of December football as we separate the men from the boys--both onfield and in the stadium seats.  Pack your longjohns and get out there to support your favorite NFL team!

Go, Pack, gooooooo!

11.27.2012

Phillip Merling's Uncle

So often, these pro football players seem to have family members lending a helping hand or paving the road to athletic success.  Phillip Merling is no exception.

Back in his college days at Clemson, Phillip Merlin's uncle served as his position coach.  Cool, right?!

Better yet, this was no new coaching relationship.  Turns out Chris Rumpf, aka Phillip Merlin's uncle, had been his his high school coach for three seasons.  Clearly Chris Rumpf saw something great in his young nephew and certainly helped develop that talent over the years of training on the gridiron.

11.25.2012

A few quick facts about Jaymes Brooks

Here's a visual to go along with some of these Jaymes Brooks facts.

-  in high school, Jaymes Brooks was the football player and a track and field shot putter.

-  He won his state's indoor shot put title!

-  Played in the 2009 Orange Bowl.

-  300 is his favorite movie.

-  Rap is his music of choice.

-  Admires his grandfather.

11.22.2012

Packers @ New York Giants

Believe it or not--this is the third and final November game!  This time the Green Bay Packers are heading to the east coast to defeat the New York Giants.  I'm ready to catch this one from the couch, but if you're traveling with the team or live in New York, grab a couple tickets and enjoy!

11.21.2012

Don Barclay, meet Don Barclay

Don Barclay was an nondrafted free agent signed to the Green Bay Packers in spring 2012.  But when doing a bit o' research to learn more about this former West Virginian football player, I came across plenty of other images and information about a much different Don Barclay.  Apparently, the name has been used before!  Meet the late Don Barclay, actor and comedian:

Possible namesake for this Don Barclay?

Both Don Barclays seem to have a good sense of humor--the current Green Bay Packers version lists Kevin James' King of Queens as his favorite TV show.  Good pick!

11.19.2012

Casey Hayward's favorite athletes

Like all sports enthusiasts, Casey Hayward has his own role models in sport.

Casey Hayward is serious about his favorite athletes.
When asked to list his top four most admired sports figures, Casey Hayward had them ready to go: Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers.

I'm definitely with Casey Hayward's last (but most important!) pick.  And can you imagine how cool it would be to practice and compete with one of your all time favorite athletes?!  What a trip!

11.16.2012

Green Bay Packers @ Detroit

Watch out, Detroit.  Green Bay is coming your way!

On Sunday the 18th, the Green Bay Packers are heading out to defeat the Detroit Lions.  We're hitting the mid-season stride here halfway through November and this marks the first of our two road games for the second half of the month.

We're fresh off a bye week and ready for action.

I'm ready for a Green Bay Packers viewing party complete with chips, dip, and some green and yellow M&Ms.  Nothing better on game day than that football fare.

Let's see a good game this week and add another win to the record books.  Go, Pack, go!

11.14.2012

Mr. Mike McCabe

Well, if the NFL doesn't pan out for Mike McCabe, he's got a solid back-up plan: teaching!  This profession runs in the McCabe family.  Both of Mike McCabe's parents are teachers...and taught at the same school where Mike McCabe attended!

One college summer, Mike McCabe spent his time working at that same school, teaching Algebra to middle schoolers.  A stuffy July morning talking about math with a bunch of 13 and 14 year olds?  You've really got to love teaching to go through something like that!

So there you have it: Mike McCabe, current Green Bay Packers tackle...future teacher of the younger generation.  And this face makes me think his class will behave!

11.13.2012

Jeff Saturday: The Green Bay Packers old-timer (in a good way!)

Jeff Saturday is one new yet old face on the Green Bay Packers team this season.  With his warm smile, Jeff Saturday can certainly become a role model to some of the young guns on the team who--in a few years--will be nearly half his age!

At 37 years old, Jeff Saturday has racked up some impressive stats.  My favorite is his record set with Peyton Manning.  Together, this qb-center combo, broke the old NFL record and set a new one for the most starts (170).  Wow!

Now that Jeff Saturday has joined the Green Bay Packers roster, the team sure can benefit from his experience and expertise.  Goooooo, Pack!

11.09.2012

Brett Goode's Facial Hair

Arkansas is the place Brett Goode calls home in the offseason from the Green Bay Packers.  I'm wondering if his facial hair style blends in well with his fellow male Arkansasians.  Up here in Wisconsin during hunting season, he fits in great!

I'm sure that beard comes in as handy camo during those long, cold deer hunting mornings and serves as a toasty face warmer during Lambeau games in December!

11.07.2012

Surfing with Brad Jones

Brad Jones is clearly an athletic guy.  So much so, in fact, that he can pick up sports right and left.  Football is clearly covered, but did you know he was also a sprinter on the track and field team?  Yessirreebob.  Brad Jones competed in the 200 meter dash and the 110 hurdles with ease.  Additionally, he spent a year on the basketball team.

But it wasn't until 2011 that Brad Jones gave another athletic endeavor a try: surfing.  This is something I've always wanted to do.  The thought of riding huge waves in a tropical setting sounds like a great way to spend the afternoon.   Brad Jones got just that chance and though I wasn't there to witness it (darn!), I'm certain his natural athletic abilities served him well.

Terrell Manning's Africana Studies

Terrell Manning attended North Carolina State.  Of course he was a fixture on the North Carolina Wolfpack football team whose 2010 season was especially strong.

But it was his off field endeavors that interested me.  Terrell Manning was an Africana Studies major, a unique offering among four year institutions.

After exploring the North Carolina State website, I thought it sounded like a cool program.  It examines the contributions and experiences of people from African descent all throughout the world.  Some classes include Introduction to the African Diaspora and Black Popular Culture.  The program seems to be very popular and features a major track, minor route, and several study abroad opportunities.  The link to its description can be found here.  Makes me want to go back to college and sample some classes all over again!

Desmond Bishop's Residence

Desmond Bishop calls Vacaville, California home.  I'd never heard to this city so I decided to investigate and find out what sort of place this is.

This state of the art picture makes me want to board a plane to Cali this instant!
Maps place Vacaville almost exactly halfway between Sacramento and San Francisco, two better known California cities.  Vacaville is just over 90,000 citizens strong.  One of those residents is allegedly Jarrett Bush of the Green Bay Packers.  Do Desmond Bishop and Jarrett Bush crash together?  Mysterious!

Vacaville contains a couple prisons, too, which is something not every city can boast about.  It's a far cry from Green Bay, Wisconsin but for Desmond Bishop it's home sweet home.
"I just biked from Vacaville!"

11.01.2012

Green Bay Packers versus Arizona Cardinals

We're back for another home game at Lambeau Field this week.  The team is looking good and though the Arizona Cardinals have done well in the past few seasons, the Green Bay Packers are ready for a good match-up.

Like the good Packers fan I am, I of course predict a win.  I won't even mind a close contest as long as are victorious in the end.

Check out the tickets remaining or tune in on Sunday.  Either way, get ready to root for the best team in the NFL.

Go, Pack, go!

Clay Matthews' Workout Style

It's no question Clay Matthews works out a lot.  Just look at the dude.

Ripped?  Yes.

How he gets there is plenty of time spent in the gym, but I was wondering what kind of workout style he selects once he's in there lifting weights and working on cardio.  Up above he's got a classic Nike black T, and just cut out of the picture are a pair of black gloves.  The hair is pulled back in a simply pony (?) and he looks ready to sweat.  Here's a few more pictures of Clay Matthews' workout style:

The black shirts and pony tails are there...just with an added headband.  So what do you guys think of Clay Matthews' workout style?  Thumbs up?  Is he operating with a Nike endorsement?  Look good in black?  Leave me your thoughts!

10.27.2012

Grant Cook's Hometown

Grant Cook was signed by the Green Bay Packers back in May when he tried out for the team.  They picked this guy from Arkansas and he hasn't looked back.

Grant Cook graduated from high school in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  Jonesboro is a city of almost 70,000 proud inhabitants who have called some famous people fellow town residents: John Grisham, Charley Thornton, and Tony Spinner to name a few.

Grant Cook will have to brace himself for Wisconsin winters; the average Arkansas low January temp is just 26 degrees--practically a Wisconsin summer!

No matter what the season brings, I'm sure it's exciting for Grant Cook to be part of the historic Green Bay Packers team.  Go, Pack, go!

10.24.2012

Green Bay Packers versus the Jacksonville Jaguars

Finally!  A home game!

I'm one of the many Packers crazed fans who will be flooding the field this Sunday as we finally get a taste of Green Bay Packers action on their home turf.

Treat yourself to a pair of tickets (or convince a friend to treat you---lol).  We're in the thick of the season so it's a good time to go--and hopefully beautiful weather for it, too.

Go, Pack, go!

Brandon Bostick's Twitter Feed

Brandon Bostick is a tight end for the Green Bay Packers who wears number 48 with pride.  You've probably followed him in action and noticed he's a solid athlete who is proud to wear the trademark green and gold.

And if you can't get enough of Brandon Bostick while he's suited up and playing home or away, have no fear.  Twitter is here!

Brandon Bostick has a robust Twitter account, and during the season he's often updating several times a day.  Just the kind of steady stream of information I need to carry me through the long days between those amazing Packers games!

Here's the link to Brandon Bostick's account.  Follow along and join in the fun of seeing the games and practices from his perspective!

10.18.2012

Green Bay Packers @ St. Louis

We're down south again this week for another game on the road.

The Green Bay Packers take on the St. Louis Rams for a Sunday match-up in what promises to be an interesting game.  This is the third game on the road for our guys so if you happen to be in the St. Louis neighborhood (lucky you!), make sure to check them out.

Go, Pack, go!

10.17.2012

Otis Merrill's Crazy Speed

We're coming off an Olympic year and if you were like me, you were glued to the TV during all sports, especially the track and field sprints.  Remember Usain Bolt's insane speed during the 100 meter dash?  Amazing, especially for a dude that stands 6'5".

Clearly, Bolt would beat out Otis Merrill in a 40 yard dash, but I think Merrill could keep in there with the speed he exhibited in this clip below (which doesn't show him running until about halfway through):

Unofficially, Otis Merrill ran the 40 yard in the 4.42-4.45 second range.  I love to see these guys sprinting...even better when it's on Lambeau Field for a touchdown!

10.15.2012

Eric Lair's Bling

Eric Lair, a young guy from the University of Minnesota football squad, joined the Green Bay Packers in 2012.  When checking out his U of MN bio, his picture caught my eye.

More specifically, the blingin' earring grabbed my attention.  Maybe other guys keep their earrings covered by helmets or long flowing manes, but I like how Eric Lair's diamond is right there for all to see.

Diamond or faux-diamond earrings were a big no-no among the males of a certain age in my graduating high school and college classes, but they certainly have become a stylish accessory among the younger generation.  I googled "NFL players with earrings" and came across a list of this lady's top five earring wearers.  Our very own Green Bay Packer, James Starks, even made the cut.  (A cushion cut?  Ascher?  Oh, I'll stop with the diamond puns.)

I'm wondering if Aaron Rodgers should jump on the earring bandwagon.  What do you think?

10.12.2012

Green Bay Packers at Houston

The Green Bay Packers head down south to take on the Houston Texans this week.  The game will be held at Reliant Stadium this Sunday.  The Houston Texans haven't been a big threat in the past and I'm sure the Green Bay Packers will come out ahead with another win.

Go, Pack, go!

Jermichael Finley's new popular last name

Jermichael Finley has made a name for himself on the Green Bay Packers football squad.  Sure.  Obvious.  But are his recent success helping to make the name Finley (and all its variations) more popular than ever?  That's my theory and I'm ready to explore it.

"Let me hear more!"
You see, the name Finley has never been more popular.  It was up to #364 on the charts in 2011.  Meaning "fair haired hero" or "fair warrior" the name is popular for both guys and dolls.  You can keep it as is or abbreviate it down to the adorable Fin/Finn.

Now that I've thought some more about this name, I've decided that yes indeed, my firstborn shall be named Finley...boy OR girl!  It has the sweet factor plus the Green Bay Packers association.  Now, just gotta work on finding the whole love and marriage part first....  ;)

10.11.2012

James Starks' Great Day

Some days you just wake up and the world is right.  For me this involves waking up before the alarm, producing a perfect pot of coffee, and an outfit that fits just right.

For James Starks, it involves a key to his city, a Super Bowl ring, and a birthday.  To each his own!

You see, back on February 23, 2011, James Starks was celebrating his birthday.  That was awesome enough, but additionally awesome that he was fresh off of a Super Bowl win with the best team in the NFL.  Double awesome.  And on top of it all, James Starks was honored for this victory by his hometown of Niagra Fall, New York.  The mayor presented him with a key to the city in light of his accomplishments.  What an honor.

I'm sure James Starks soaked it all in.  Days like that don't come along often and you've got to enjoy them while they're happening.  Maybe, though, he could recreate the joy this year...win another Super Bowl, celebrate his birthday again, and this time get the key to Green Bay.  I like that plan!

10.09.2012

Morgan Burnett's Georgia home

Georgia is a beautiful state and the one that Morgan Burnett calls home.  Burnett hails from College Park, Georgia, a town of roughly 13,000 that straddles two counties.

College Park has produced many well-known people for being a relatively small town.  Of course Morgan Burnett is on that list, as well as R&B singer Monica and Tameka Cottle, TI's wife.  It seems especially to have lots of musicians and athletes coming out from its ranks.  Pretty cool.

Morgan Burnett didn't have to look far for his college experience.  He attended Georgia Tech and had a strong football career.  And I'm guessing that he'll retire in his hometown state though I hope that day doesn't come for a long time.

10.04.2012

Packers @ Indianapolis this Sunday

I think the title says it all.  The Indianapolis Colts better get ready because Green Bay is comin' to town!

If you're lucky enough to be in the area, check out if any tickets remain.  Otherwise be sure to park it on the couch this week to watch the Green Bay Packers pull out another big win.

Go, Pack, go!

Tramon Williams's Wedding Style

Tramon Williams sure cleans up nice!
Wedding day.

He was married in 2009 to the love of his life, Shantrell, and together they make a beautiful couple.

This picture is really neat to be able to see the dressed-up style of the pair.  For a June wedding, this is a nice combination.  I like the white tux look, which not all guys can pull off.  I also like how the crisp whites in the dress and tux match well.  There are many different shades of white, which can make this a tricky situation.  But Tramon and Shantrell got it right.  Also cool are the blue accents, both his tie and boutonniere and her dress.  Very classy.  Though it could be even better if there was a little Packer gold and green mixed in somewhere....right???  :)

10.01.2012

Jamari Lattimore's Cool 'Do

Jamari Lattimore has some of the best hair not just among Green Bay Packers players, but in the entire NFL.  Agree?
The picture above is a little old so here's another for ya:

The thing I love best about Jamari Lattimore's full head of hair is that it is a little unregulated.  You can see he doesn't keep every piece in exact place.  I'm wondering, though, what this means about helmet size.  That's a lot of hair to get crammed under the trademark green and gold!

9.28.2012

Green Bay Packers versus New Orleans

The New Orleans Saints are coming to town!

Tickets are available for Sunday's game at Lambeau Field.  I've always harbored an annoyance (hatred is too strong a term) for the new Orleans Saints so I'm ready to see them get knocked down a couple times at the hands of our home team.

Go, Pack, go!

9.26.2012

It's Aaron Rodgers time

I felt the compulsion to write about Aaron Rodgers today.  Yes, we all know much about this fellow, but perhaps you weren't aware of the following little tidbits of information.

1.) He's number 1 in NFL history for career passes.

2.)  He lives in Chico, California.

3.)  Suspended Sunrise Recordings is his very own record label.

4.)  He was a pitcher on his high school baseball team.

And here are two random pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Can never get enough Aaron Rodgers!

9.23.2012

Green Bay Packers at Seattle

Tomorrow night the Green Bay Packers take on the Seattle Seahawks.  We've got a good shot at this one and I'm excited to see how it all plays out.  Now hopefully the day flies by so I can park it front of the TV and watch my favorite kind of Monday night show!

Go, Pack, Go!

9.22.2012

Herb Taylor's birthday!

Today, September 22, is Herb Taylor's birthday.  Shout out to number 72 turning the big 2-8.

Herb Taylor was born in 1984 and has played football at Texas Christian College and been on the roster (practice or otherwise) for the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and New York Giants.  Will his 28th year bring more action on the field?

Since his birthday is on a Saturday, maybe this means a night out on the town.  Dinner, a couple drinks, and lots of dessert--cake and ice cream, of course!  Happy birthday, Herb Taylor!

Greg Jennings' Official Site

Greg Jennings has an amazing website that I've been sucked into lately.
 Come along for a tour!

My top favorite parts of his site are the following:

-  Sharp photography.  Greg Jennings looks like a stud in every picture--dressed up or down, in a jersey or not.

-  Video clips. Greg Jennings' site features some cool video clips right on the main page that get me pumped to see him in action this season (more than I already am).

-  Family/father link.  Greg Jennings' three girls are posed with him along with a couple paragraphs about his family life.  I love getting this look at our favorite Green Bay Packers players.

Don't just take my word for it...check out Greg Jennings' site for yourself!

Bryan Bulaga's Stats

It was this picture of Bryan Bulaga:
His hands make the football look tiny!  Or is it because he's playing with a kiddie sized ball? Tricky, tricky.

that made me decide I NEEDED to check on his height and weight stats.  This Green Bay Packers player is enormous and such a threat on field! My guess as to his heft was a good 6'5" and 325.

Turns out I wasn't far off.

Bryan Bulaga's official Green Bay Packers website profile lists him at 6'5" and 314 pounds.

Just to do a little comparison shopping on those stats, here's what that means.

Bryan Bulaga is as approximately as tall as Snooki (4'9") standing on a female Labrador retriever (21").

Bryan Bulaga is roughly the weight of President Obama (176 lbs.) + the first lady (165 lbs.) - their dog Bo (35 lbs.).

What completely useless and irrelevant information!  You're welcome.  Just remember those details when you see Bryan Bulaga take the field this fall.  He's a big guy and we're proud he's on the Green Bay Packers!

9.11.2012

AJ Hawk's bird profile

So AJ's last name is, obviously, Hawk.  Here's a picture for you nonbird lovers.

So fierce.

I guess if you had to have an avian last name, "Hawk" is better than just about everything else.  Hawks are amazing birds with great hearing skillz and can see eight times better than humans.  Speeds of up to 150 miles per hour have been reported when a hawk swoops in for the kill.  Fast?  Strong?  Great senses?  Sounds like AJ to me.

What would be the worst bird related last name for a football player?  Chickadee?  Those little birds are sweet but that certainly wouldn't inspire any fear among an opponent on the football field.  Flamino?  Pink.  Thin.  Graceful.  Not good for a linebacker.  And maybe just because of how it sounds, Dodo would be the worst.  Hawk is sounding better by the minute!

9.10.2012

Green Bay Packers versus Chicago

The Chicago Bears are coming to town for our second home game in a week.  How lucky are we? Though I was watching yesterday's game from the comfort of a friend's couch, I'll be at Lambeau this Thursday to catch all the action live.  My favorite place for tickets is this one (I've linked to it before) and maybe you can score a couple to the game, too.

Go, Pack, go!

Green Bay Packers versus San Francisco

Buckle up, Green Bay Packers fans!  The official Green Bay Packers season kicks off on Sunday with a match-up against the San Francisco 49ers!

I am beyond excited for this game, not only because it's the first of the 2012-2013 season, but because it is here at Lambeau Field!  Are any of you lucky to be attending in person?  I'm sitting this one out in lieu of watching from a friend's TV during his annual opening game party, but if you're still looking for tickets, you might rustle up a pair here.  Good luck!

Go, Pack, go!

Jerel Worthy's Tat

Jerel Worthy is one big dude.  This makes a great canvas for some black ink.

His left shoulder and bicep is tastefully engraved with a tattoo of a Michigan State Spartan.  The shield, sword, and helmet are spot-on.  The Spartan is tough and dedicated, gazing out fiercely at any who dare meet his gaze.

But, wait!  What's that?

The Michigan State Spartan is standing atop something in this visual depiction.  Is it a shag rug?  A hay bale?  No!  In fact, Jerel Worthy's tattooed Spartan is standing triumphantly on the back of a University of Michigan Wolverine.

I admire Jerel Worthy's passion for football and his team.  Now he'll have to reserve the right bicep for a picture of a giant cheese crushing a Chicago Bear or Minnesota Viking.  Somehow that image lacks the same zip....

Mike Neal's Hat Style

Mike Neal looks good in Green Bay Packers green and gold and this is illustrated further by his recent professional hat modeling.  Ah, just kidding.  Sure, he passes off well as a professional hat model, but he's got bigger fish to fry...like helping the team dominate this season.

I saw two photos of Mike Neal online recently and wanted to do a side by side hat analysis here.

In this first shot, Mike Neal dons a summer Green Bay Packers baseball hat.
Thumbs up to the cap?

This one look ok, but since it's technically a baseball cap, my sports worlds are colliding.  I think this next one fits the bill a bit better:

Much better.
Here we have the wintry football look that conjures the chill of a late fall game at Lambeau Field and the gruff manliness of All Things Green Bay Packers.

So, that's my opinion.  How about you guys: baseball cap or winter hat?

Sam Shields' Wikipedia Page

Whenever I want to know something about a Green Bay Packers player, I head straight to their official Green Bay Packers blog.  It's clear, concise, and accurate.  Also, it pumps me up just to see the official logos and colors I've come to know and love.  Win, win!

But sometimes, if questions still linger, or curiosity gets the best of me, I turn to Wikipedia.  Unfortunately, most of the guys have short profiles with the most basic of stats, especially if they aren't seeing lots of action on the team at the time.

But when I tried this with number 37, cornerback Sam Shields, I was surprised to see a surplus of information that gave insight to his college career and lots of external links.

Just the tip of the iceberg.
Since anyone is able to edit Wikipedia pages, does this mean Sam Shields has some superfans looking to enhance his digital profiles?  Or is it Sam Shields himself typing up info he knows fans like me will appreciate?

'Tis quite the mystery!

Until I solve this one, I'll go back to reading through his detailed profile.  Makes for a fun way to start the day!
